Who provides cybersecurity and managed IT in Boulder?
Many IT companies serve Boulder. The better question is what to look for. Security should be built into everyday IT support, not sold as an add-on. Your provider should work from a written standard, like our Security Baseline, and be able to show you that backups restore, not just that they run. And when something goes wrong, you want a team that keeps the same Mountain-time hours as you. Not sure where you stand today? Take the 2am Saturday Test.
Hacked right now? Help for Boulder businesses
Ransomware note on a screen? Strange logins in Microsoft 365? A pop-up demanding you call "support"? Start with these steps:
• Unplug the network cable or turn off Wi-Fi on the affected computer. Leave it powered on so evidence isn't lost.
Don't pay a ransom and don't call numbers shown in pop-ups.
• From a clean phone or computer, change your email and banking passwords.
• Call us. We'll walk you through containment, malware cleanup and getting your team back to work, from downtown Boulder to Longmont.
Afterward, ask about managed detection and response, with analysts reviewing alerts around the clock.

One team for help desk, devices and Microsoft 3
The engineers who answer your help desk tickets are the same people who watch your security, so nothing falls between two vendors. We handle day-to-day support for your staff, Microsoft 365, laptops and phones, and onboarding and offboarding. Help desk hours are 8am to 5pm weekdays, Mountain time.
Managed IT for Boulder offices, home offices and project sites
Your team might sit in an office in Boulder, work from home in Louisville, Lafayette or Longmont, and visit project sites around the county. Every one of those connections is part of your network. Our network security review looks at what drifts over time:
• Firewall rules and firmware nobody has checked in a while
• Remote access protected by MFA, not a password alone
• Guest Wi-Fi and smart devices kept off the business network
• Web filtering, and patching for every laptop, including home laptops
Identity protection: Most account takeovers don't break a password; they steal a session or trick someone into approving an app. Identity threat detection and response (ITDR) watches for stolen sessions, rogue app consents and hidden inbox rules.
Backup and disaster recovery for Boulder businesses
Wildfire smoke, a power outage, a dead server and ransomware all end the same way: your team can't work. We back up servers, devices and Microsoft 365, keep copies off-site, away from your office, and test backups by actually restoring them. Our business continuity and disaster recovery service adds a written plan and a recovery approach for each key system. Wondering whether Microsoft 365 already backs up your data? Cybersecurity for Boulder law firms, RIAs, engineers and architects
We focus on professional firms where a breach costs client trust, not only money.
• Law firms: We tighten email, file sharing and mobile access so client files stay where they belong.
• Financial services and RIAs: Examiners want evidence. We help you document access, backups and incident steps, and build call-back steps that stop wire fraud.
• Engineering firms: Large project files, remote staff and client security questionnaires, handled without risky workarounds.
• Architecture firms: When every project lives on one file share, ransomware protection and tested restores matter.

What Colorado rules apply after a data breach?
Colorado's data security and breach notification law applies to any business that keeps personal information about Colorado residents, no matter its size. According to the Colorado Attorney General, you must keep reasonable security procedures in place and require your third-party service providers, including your IT provider, to do the same. If a breach occurs, you must notify affected Coloradans within 30 days of determining that it happened, and you must notify the Attorney General if 500 or more residents are affected. Personal information includes a username or email address combined with a password that would allow access to an online account, so a hijacked email account can count.
The Colorado Privacy Act (CPA) applies to businesses that process the personal data of 100,000 or more Colorado consumers in a year, or that earn revenue from selling the personal data of 25,000 or more. Many small professional firms fall below those thresholds. Even so, its requirement for "reasonable security practices" mirrors what Colorado's breach law already expects of everyone.
